A suspect has been charged with kidnapping and other crimes after an incident at an Upstate motel, earlier this month. The Union County Sheriff's Office responded to the Rodeway Inn on South Duncan Bypass in Union, April 19th. A woman had reportedly been held inside a motel room the previous day.
Deputies reported that the victim had visible physical injuries. The woman identified the suspect as Joseph Boykin. She told deputies that Boykin had tied her up, physically assaulted her and threatened her with a knife. The victim was able to escape the room when Boykin left.
Witnesses reported seeing Boykin leave in the victim's SUV. Boykin was found and taken into custody, this past Friday. He's charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and grand larceny of a vehicle.
