An investigation is underway after a sexual assault in the Upstate this afternoon. The Greenville County Sheriff's Office says, the assault was reported near Greenville's Swamp Rabbit Trail. The victim flagged someone down on the trail and that person the called 911.
The victim reported being sexually assaulted at an abandoned building in the 200 block of Bleachery Road near the Swamp Rabbit Trail. The suspect who remains at large, is described as a light skinned black man in a silver sedan and was reportedly armed with a gun during the assault.
The victim was able to escape on foot. The investigation is still in its early stages and no further information was available as of the time of this report. Anyone with info on the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 23-Crime.
