A North Carolina driver took Upstate deputies on a wild chase Tuesday afternoon. Spartanburg County deputies were called in to help stop a pursuit that started across the state line. Just before 1 PM Tuesday, the sheriff’s office got word the suspect, identified as Austin Shane Tucker was headed their way. ,
Tucker also known as "Tapout" had already reportedly stolen four vehicles. He initially stopped in Mooresboro for speeding in what was later determined a stolen vehicle, but fled, prompting the chase.
Spartanburg Deputies picked up the chase along Highway 221 in Chesnee, where Tucker eventually crashed and took off on foot. K-9 units were brought in to track him—but not before he managed to steal a fifth vehicle.
That sparked a second chase, which ended in Polk County North Carolina, when Tucker crashed again. He was taken to the hospital with injuries. Deputies say Tucker now faces charges in multiple jurisdictions, but was booked into the Rutherford County Detention Center first..
