Anderson city police called for the SWAT team when a man identified as Justin Raines, barricaded himself in a room of the Red Roof Inn on North Main Street about 11:30 Thursday night. The hotel's other guests were evacuated and herded into the lobby.

The episode ended three hours later when flash-bang and smoke grenades were fired through the window of the man's room. He stepped out, surrendered quietly and was taken to AnMed for what the police report calls "evaluation." He was apparently unarmed, nobody was hurt; no word on what started the standoff either.
