A teen has been arrested in the death of a 4 year old in Greenville County.
Deputies received a report of a missing child Tuesday afternoon around 2:30PM at a home on Chevy Chase Boulevard outside of Pelzer. After a brief search, the body of a child was found in a wooded area near the home.
The child, identified as 4-year-old Joanna J. Lockaby, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Greenville County Sheriff's office has arrested 17-year-old William Micah Hester in connection with the girl's death.
Investigators say Hester, who is the victim’s half-brother, suffocated her. Hester has been taken to the Greenville County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. Authorities have not yet released a motive for the killing.
