The Anderson County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation involving a teenager. Investigators were on the scene along Willingham Road in a rural area between Williamston and Belton. Deputies responded to a call of shots fired around 2:30AM Thursday.
The Anderson County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 14 year old Elijah Delbert Allen Sergent. A preliminary report from the coroners office indicates Sergent was inside a home when he was struck by a bullet fired from outside.
The death has been ruled a homicide and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday. So far no arrests have been made as that investigation continues.
