POLL: Should a permit be required to own or carry a gun?

Texans are now allowed to openly carry handguns without a permit, training, or a background check - thanks to a new law that went into effect last week. The 'constitutional carry' law represents a win for gun rights advocates and conservative lawmakers - but has been criticized by law enforcement officials, who say it makes their job more difficult. Anyone over the age of 21 is now qualified to carry a handgun, except in certain cases such as a previous conviction for violent crimes.
