
The National Guard has extended its deployment in Washington D.C. through the end of March, as concerns over possible civil unrest continue. Officials are worried about possible protests during the upcoming Senate impeachment trial, set to begin Feb. 8th. Others are concerned about a possible incident on March 4th - which was the official U.S. inauguration day before 1937. Currently about 7,000 Guard members remain from the more than 25,000 brought in for last week's inauguration ceremony.
