Greenville County School District Spokesman Tim Waller says investigators have traced that social media post about a Greenville County high school shooting to a suspect who is now facing criminal charges and that additional postings had been made threatening other schools in the meantime.
The first social media threat , which appeared to be a screenshot of a Snapchat posting had warned of a plan to "shoot up J.L.Mann High School at 8:30" this morning. The school's Facebook page says a so-called "phone blast" call went out to parents over the weekend telling them the district office was aware of the post and that extra security measures would be in force at J.L.Mann today.
The latest word from Waller says "...the source who made the original threatening post is being charged by law enforcement. In an later update Waller reports it is not clear at this point whether the threats against additional schools are linked to the one targeting J.L. Mann, but his original statement on that one added: "Parents are asked to remind their children that making threats against other students and the school has serious consequences."
