Three fatal accidents on Upstate roads are under investigation.
Troopers say an SUV turned left in front of a pickup on Highway 178 near Liberty shortly after 10:00 o'clock Thursday night. The truck driver, not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Pickens County coroner is withholding identification for now. The driver of the SUV was airlifted to Greenville Memorial.
Less than four hours earlier in Anderson County, a collision with an SUV on Highway 187 threw a rider from his motorcycle into the path of another vehicle, also an SUV. 52 year old Larry James Shaw died at the scene of the wreck. Investigators say one of the SUVs had turned left toward Arnold Road in front of the Anderson man's motorcycle.
And the coroner says a Colorado man who had recently moved to Anderson died Thursday afternoon of injuries from an accident on Bleckley Street Wednesday morning. The Highway Patrol says 71 year old John Sopak's car hit another one nearly head-on and overturned. The accident is still under investigation.
