Three WNC shootings under investigation, one charged

A suspect has been charged in one of three recent shootings in Asheville. The 1st happened around 1:30 AM Saturday at an apartment complex on Lee Garden Lane. Officers found three vehicles and two apartments hit by gunfire. 18 shell casings were found at the scene.

Around 9PM Sunday night, police responded to the area of Future Drive. One apartment and three vehicles were damaged in the shooting and over two dozen shell casings were found.


A 3rd shooting happened around 4AM Monday on South French Broad Avenue. A suspect in that shooting was located nearby and was taken into custody.

He's been identified as 34 year old, Stanley Wells. He's charged with assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a stolen gun and multiple weapons violations.

Police are investigating a possible connection between the three incidents. No injuries were reported in the shootings.
