The Senate voted 51 to 48 Tuesday to begin debate on passing the Save America Act. The bill would set new requirements for voting in elections and restrictions on transgender athletes and transgender medical care.
Congressman William Timmons joined The Tara Show Wednesday morning, saying things are moving in the right direction. It's still up in the air whether or not the bill will pass the Senate, as Republicans don't have the 60 votes to overcome a filibuster. Timmons said "Chuck Schumer recently said that they (Democrats) are not against voter ID. This is a 98% Republican issue, 85% Democrat issue. You have to prove you are a citizen. You have to show ID to vote, it's not complicated stuff. The fact we are talking about this being an issue is ridiculous.
President Trump has said he will not endorse any lawmaker who votes against the bill. To hear Tara's full interview with Congressman Timmons visit the podcast page on our website.
