The trial for a man charged in a fatal Upstate crash that left a toddler dead, is underway. The crash happened in October of 2023 on Chestnut Ridge Road in Laurens County.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says Gabriel Artega was driving a pickup truck when he ran a stop sign and crashed into an SUV. A three year old girl identified as Madison Hines, died in the crash.
Arteaga is charged with reckless homicide, he entered a not guilty plea, Monday. Jury selection was carried out yesterday yesterday and the trial began Tuesday morning.
