Severe turbulence on a flight Wednesday, coming out of a Western North Carolina Airport left four people injured. Officials with Allegiant Air says two flight attendants and two passengers suffered injuries on the flight from Asheville to the St. Pete-Clearwater Airport in Florida.
While the flight was hitting turbulence it dropped from an altitude of 18,000 feet to 13,000 feet in less than two minutes. Allegiant says, airport paramedics met the plane when it landed in Florida to assess those injured a board.
They were all transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. 179 passengers and 6 crew members were said to be on the flight. The turbulence caused the overhead bins to open during the flight and broke, so they were unable to be closed.
