Two children are dead after the weekend storms caused a tree to fall through a home in Western North Carolina. The Transylvania County EMS and Connestee Fire and Rescue responded just after 330AM Sunday to a home in Brevard.
Upon arrival, crews found that a tree 3 foot in diameter was uprooted and fell through a trailer. Two children, one was said to be 11 and the other 13 were trapped underneath the tree and other debris.
The two died from injuries suffered in the incident. It took crews hours to cut and life the tree up enough to free the bodies of the two children.
The other three people who lived there unharmed. A firefighter suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at a local hospital. The incident remains under investigation by local and state officials.
