The South Carolina Highway Patrol reports two deadly weekend wrecks in the Upstate. One occurred Friday Afternoon and the other just before 1 AM Saturday. The Friday crash was a single vehicle crash that happened around 3:30 PM in Spartanburg on I-26 just two miles north of Inman. The Highway Patrol says the lone driver in the wreck ran off the side of the road and hit a tree. The driver later died after being transported to the hospital.
The Saturday morning crash involved two vehicles and a pedestrian. The wreck occurred just before 1 AM Saturday on Mills Ave just outside of Greenville. The Highway Patrol says a pedestrian was in the roadway and was hit by one vehicle initially, then was struck by the other vehicle involved. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Highway Patrol did not release the identity of the deceased in either crash and they say both wrecks remain under investigation.
