Two officers injured and the suspect dead in a shooting at a hotel near Irmo, South Carolina.
The officer-involved shooting was reported earlier Friday morning at the Extended Stay America Hotel in the Irmo area of Columbia, and a major law enforcement presence was dispatched.
The response included law enforcement personnel from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, SLED, the Columbia Police Department and US Marshalls.
Glass was found shattered by bullets among other damage, and two deputy US Marshals were injured but are in stable condition.
The suspect, George Curtis, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following the shooting. He had been wanted in Richland County since last month on various child rape and molestation charges.
An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
