Two Upstate police officers have been fired after an incident during an arrest last month. As we previously reported, the Greer Police Department responded to a disturbance call at a home on Woodgrove Way on the night of March 6th.
Upon arrival, officers encountered the suspect, 45 year old Donald Parham, who was in the yard yelling incoherently. Video shows that Parham was sitting on the ground and then became agitated with the four officers who were on scene.
After screaming at officers, Parham attempted to get up and was grabbed by the officers. A statement released today from the Greer PD says Parham was punched in the face during the skirmish.
He was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries before being booked on charges of assaulting an officer and disorderly conduct.
The statement says two of the officers involved acted outside of the department guidelines and thus are no longer employed there. Those two officers were not publicly identified in the statement.
