• Dr. Marsha Neal of Charleston County's Deer Park Middle School
The annual award comes through the SC Tech initiative, an initiative heading by the SC Council on Competitiveness and in partnership with STEM Centers SC and The Citadel STEM Center.
The SC STEM Educator of the Year Award was created to recognize teachers for making a significant difference in students' lives through their teaching encouragement for students to pursue learning in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields both in and out of the classroom.
“It is so encouraging to see not just the caliber of applicants, but the excitement that each of them bring to their respective classrooms,” SC Council of Competitiveness President and CEO Susie Shannon said in a press release. "With this award, we are excited to be able to recognize their important contributions to our state’s overall competitiveness."
The 2022 STEM Educator of the Year award will be presented during the STEM Education Day in Columbia on Thursday, March 17th.
