Today, June 21st marks the 2nd anniversary of the tragic line of duty death of an Upstate deputy.
Spartanburg County Deputy 1st Class Austin Aldridge died after being shot by a suspect named Duane Heard when responding to a domestic disturbance in June of 2022. Deputy Aldridge was ambushed by the suspect and was laid to rest a few days later.
Heard died in October of that year after suffering injuries in the shootout with deputies. Later that year Aldridge was honored as the Deputy Of The Year. Hear is the dispatch audio of the End Of Watch call for Deputy Aldridge.
