The Newberry County Sheriff's Office in a Facebook post reported they were investigating an ultralight aircraft crash that occurred around 7:45PM Saturday near the airport.
A preliminary investigation indicated the aircraft did not gain enough altitude on takeoff to clear power lines and the pilot put the aircraft down to avoid them.
The pilot did not suffer injuries that required transport to a hospital, however a passenger was airlifted to a trauma center, no word yet on their condition.
