The city of Greenville was presented a $500,000 check from AT&T towards funding the Unity Park project. The investment was announced and the presentation was made at Monday night's Greenville City Council meeting. Mayor Knox White says that now makes $18 million in private donations.
Unity Park is being constructed just west of downtown in the Southernside neighborhood. It's an area rich in history and one that has been and is a major part of the city's fabric.
After the presentation, AT&T's Regional Director Amanda Taylor said " AT&T is about connecting people and information, we are excited to be part of this project which will connect the past, present and our future. This is very close to our heart because of the representation of unity."
An area of the city that once was home to segregation and divide, will soon look to be a symbol of unity not just for Greenville, but statewide.
