An investigation is underway after an officer involved shooting in the Upstate Tuesday afternoon. According to the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred around 3pm at a home on Carver Street in Greenville.
A narcotics investigation was ongoing at 100 Carver Street, and Greenville County SWAT was called in to assist.
In a press release, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said an unidentified suspect was found armed at the location, and a deputy from the Greenville County Sheriff's Office fired at the suspect.
The suspect was hit, and deputies administered first aid until EMS arrived and took the suspect to the nearby Prisma Hospital.
The suspect later died at Greenville Memorial Hospital. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday. The suspect's name has not yet been released
SLED has been called in to investigate the incident, as is standard in officer-involved shootings in the state.
