A Upstate administrator received a major award this week from the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
Steven Sokohl, the Assistant Principal at Berea Middle School, was awarded 2021 SC Assistant Middle Level Principal of the Year.
Beth Phibbs, Executive Director of SC Association of School Administrators, presented Sokohl the award.
Sokohl submitted an application for the award and went through multiple rounds of interviews.
Phibbs said he was ultimately selected by the interview team of five people: four from business community and one from education community.
"He seems like quite the shining star here," Phibbs said.
Also in attendance was Dr. Burke Royster, Superintendent of Greenville County Schools, and Sokohl's parents.
