An Upstate candidate for the SC House of Representatives has died in a car crash.
Eric Childs, a Democratic candidate for the SC House died in a car crash just before 3am early Friday morning at the intersection of Augusta Road and Lickville Road in Pelzer.
Childs’ wife, Jessicka Spearman, announced his death Friday, stating “The loss of my beloved husband, Eric Dhilds, in last night’s car accident has left me devastated. Eric was not just a devoted husband and loving father, but also a courageous combat veteran who served his country with honor.”
Spearman is also a Democratic candidate in South Carolina’s Senate in District 3.
Greenville County deputy coroner Kristine Strange confirmed Childs’ cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head from the crash.
