Donald Trump surrendered to authorities in Fulton County, GA Thursday evening, and several South Carolina legislators have spoken out in support of the former President.
3rd District Representative Jeff Duncan was quick to respond to the arrest on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying “President Trump is being arrested for telling people to watch the news and quoting the Constitution. Fani Willis is using the power of the government to take down Donald Trump.”
Congressman William Timmons also responded following the arrest, saying he “stands with” the former President.
Timmons said “The only person who should have been arrested today is DA Fani Willis. These rogue prosecutors must be held accountable for bending the law to their political wills and chosen outcomes.”
Former President Trump also posted on the platform for the first time in over two and a half years, posting a photo of his mugshot with the caption “Election Interference. Never Surrender!”.
