An Upstate deputy has died after what has been described as a tragic accident at his home. Specific details have not been released regarding the accident that led to the death of sergeant Robert Charles Talanges of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
He died yesterday Thursday, according to a social media post from the Sheriff's Office. Talanges was a veteran law enforcement officer with over 3 decades of experience. He started his career with the Woodruff Police Department in 1989. Talanges also worked with the Spartanburg PD and as a firefighter.
In 2005, he joined the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office , where he was promoted to sergeant of the Forensics division in 2020. Sergeant Talanges died at the age of 60.
