
Greenville, SC - No new mandatory restrictions, but a plea for more public cooperation against a second surge of Covid-19 from Greenville's mayor and hospital officials.
Mayor Knox White, responding to Greeville's persistent prominence in DHEC's daiily updates, was flanked by the agency's interim director, Dr. Brannon Traxler, and doctors from Greenville's major health care groups at a Peace Center media event this morning... all warning, in the words of Bon Secours St Francis Chief clinical officer, Dr Marcus Backstone, "Greenville's Covid-19 trend is headed the wrong way"...threatening to overwhelm bed capacity and treatment capability hospital personnel come down with the virus and can't tend an influx of new patients.
Officials are also warning against conspiracy campaigns discouraging compliance with pandemic precautions, the Mayor saying law enforcement is keeping watch against gatherings and businesses that defy restrictions.
He urges Halloween celebrants to keep theparties small, preferably outdoors, and to include approved facemasks in the costumery this year.
But the mayor also said he's confident it'll be safe to vote Tuesday.
