Flags are flying at half-staff at one Upstate hospital after the passing of country music icon Dolly Parton. Union Hospital is honoring Parton's life after she made a generous gift to the facility, last year.
Parton's mother was born in the Union County town of Lockhart. Parton's grandfather was said to be an active church and community member there in Lockhart. Parton made a six figure donation to Union Hospital last year. The funding was used to build what is called a healing garden. Now, the garden are is used by patient families.
While Parton was not born in Union County, she was known for always giving back to the place her family came from. Dolly Parton died Tuesday after a battle with cancer, she was 80 years old.
