A major industrial employer in the upstate is planning to close a plant that employs 225 people by the end of this year. On Monday, The Timken Company began notifying employees at their Gaffney manufacturing facility the company would be winding down operations there.
A Timken spokesperson said the bearing manufacturing would be offering employees an opportunity to apply at other company locations as well as offering benefits planning and severance pay.
