An Upstate man has been arrested for sexual contact with an underaged girl. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office says they arrested, 39 year old Oscar Alberto Cruz-Ruiz of Roebuck for 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
The Sheriff's Office says they went to the suspect's home Wednesday, after a request to locate a 15 year old girl who was missing from Virginia. The girl was located at the suspect's home in Roebuck. She was taken to Spartanburg Regional for examination. The Special Victims Unit was called in to assist in the investigation.
The girl reportedly told investigators about multiple incidents of sexual intercourse between her and Cruz-Ruiz. He then told investigators, he originally picked the girl up in Mexico, after sending money to her family there.
Cruz-Ruiz said he originally took the girl to her grandfathers home in Virginia, He then said that he later picked her up there and brought her to live with him here in South Carolina. The Sheriff's Office says despite the arrest of Cruz-Ruiz, their investigation is still ongoing.
