An Upstate man is behind bars after the death of his niece , earlier this year. In January, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office responded to a home after a report that a child was unresponsive.
Deputies arrived, the child was transported to the hospital and was later pronounced dead there. The Coroner's Office identified the child as 10 year old, Ivy Rayne Stowe.
Traces of fentanyl were found in the child's system. She was living with her uncle 37 year old, Zachary Taylor McClure at the time of the incident.
Investigators learned the McClure had been using fentanyl in the home and they believe the drug was accessible to the child. McClure is charged with homicide by child abuse.
