A Greenville County man has drowned while attempting to dock his boat Saturday on Lake Hartwell in Anderson County. The Coroner's Office says, 69-year-old Darrell Hewett, of Simpsonville was trying to dock his boat in rough water in a storm, when he fell into the water.
Other boaters were able to remove Hewett from the lake, but emergency officials said he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say he was not wearing a life jacket.
The death in still under investigation by Anderson County Coroner's Office and SC DNR.
