Upstate man dead after hit and run in Cherokee County

A Gaffney man is dead following a hit and run. Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler says, 32 year old Terry John Roland was walking along US Highway 29 just before 10PM Tuesday night, when he was struck and killed by a vehicle near the intersection of Leigh Road.

A vehicle believed to have been involved in the fatal collision was found abandoned in the parking lot of a nearby convenience store by Highway Patrol Troopers a short time later according to Fowler. An autopsy has been scheduled to assist with the coroner’s investigation of the incident.

The investigation into the crash continues, no arrests have been announced as of the time of this report. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is looking for help in finding the driver who fled the scene. They are circulating the graphic below in an effort to locate them.
