An Upstate man is set to spend the next quarter century behind bars, for his role in a fatal drive-by shooting in 2019. 7th Circuit Solicitor Barry Barnette says, 26 year old Tyler R. Bright of Piedmont entered guilty pleas Thursday on two counts of Attempted Murder and a weapons violation.
Bright and three other co-defendants were in a car together, when shots were fired into a home in Spartanburg County. 34 year old, Marcus Pierre Kirk died after being hit by the gun fire, two other people were in the house at the time of the incident.
Investigators determined that 27 year old Matthew Blackwell fired the fatal shot, he has already been sentenced to nearly 40 years in prison. 32 year old, Bobby Hank Wright was sentenced back in February to 25 years for his role in the shooting. The Solicitors Office says, charges are still pending on the fourth suspect. Bright will be required to serve 85 percent of his 25 year sentence before being eligible for early release.
