An Upstate man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after his 2nd conviction for armed robbery.

The 7th Circuit Solicitor's Office says, 57 year old Timothy Wayne Wilbanks of Spartanburg was found guilty Wednesday on charges of armed robbery, failure to stop, resisting arrest, intent to distribute meth and possession of a prescription medication.

The charges stem from three armed robbery incidents that occurred in the Spartanburg area in the fall of 2021. Court records say, Wilbanks tried to evade arrest following those robberies by fleeing in a vehicle. He was eventually taken into custody after a police chase.

Wilbanks had been convicted in 2003 for an armed robbery at a Papa John's location in Spartanburg.

He was sentenced to life in prison for his 2nd armed robbery offense and a total of over 20 years on the other charges, those sentences are set to run concurrently.
