A Greenville man has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of fatally shooting a college student.

The 7th Circuit Solicitor's Office says 24 year old, Tyshawn Gray Jordan was found guilty on charges of murder and a weapons violation.

Court records say, that Jordan shot Roderick Sparks multiple times at the Campus Edge Apartments in late 2020. Sparks was a Senior at USC Upstate.

He died from his injuries after being taken to Spartanburg Regional Hospital. Investigators determined that an argument led to the shooting and Sparks was shot in the back while trying to flee the scene.

Jordan got the life sentence partly due to his history of violence. He has prior convictions for violent burglary, 1st degree assault and multiple weapons violations.
