Upstate man gets reduced sentence after guilty Manslaughter plea

The accused killer of an Upstate woman is now a free man. In March of 2016, Dawn Michelle Harper was found dead on the side of Davis Road in Woodruff .Rodney Juan Baker was charged with murder in connection with her death.

Investigators claimed that Baker's DNA was found near Harper's body. Later an error in the DNA results was discovered. Baker then pleaded guilty to lesser charges of Voluntary Manslaughter and Possession Of A Weapon During A Violent Crime.

He served 5 years for the weapons charge after being arrested in 2016, his 30 year manslaughter sentence was suspended to 5 years of probation.
