Upstate man sentenced to prison following fatal DUI crash

An Upstate man has been sentenced to prison following a fatal hit and run in 2020. Court records show, 56 year old Eddie Melvin Arledge of Spartanburg entered guilty pleas to charges of Felony DUI Causing Death and Leaving The Scene Of A Fatal Crash. The charges stem from a crash in January of 2020, in which Arledge ran off the road, striking and killing a pedestrian.

The crash happened on Highway 150 and the victim was identified as 34 year old, Jerry Joe Moore III of Gaffney. Police say, Arledge fled the scene and witnesses saw the incident and reported it. Officers later saw Arledge getting out of a vehicle that had damage consistent with the crash. His blood alcohol level was over 3 times the legal limit. Arledge was given 18 years, he will be required to serve 85% of the sentence before being eligible for parole.
