The murder case against a former professor at an University has been dismissed, following his death. Edwin Brainerd Jr was a retired Associate Professor in Clemson University's Psychology Department.
Last July, the Anderson County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Harpers Way. Upon arrival, deputies found Brainerd standing over his wife Sally's lifeless body. Deputies say Brainerd admitted to shooting his wife.
He was initially denied bond but was later granted bond and was released. The Anderson County Coroner's Office says Edwin Brainerd died about a week before Christmas after committing suicide by overdose. That caused the case against him to be dismissed.
