An Upstate police officer was hospitalized after being assaulted by a suspect, Tuesday. The Greenville Police Department says one of their officers approached a suspicious person on Grace Street.
Police say the suspect then began to assault the officer. Back up was called in and the assailant was taken into custody.
The officer was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated. There's been no word on the officer's condition.
The suspect was arrested and identified as Nicholas Ladson. He's charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, assaulting an officer and trespassing.
