The South Carolina Republican Party held their Upstate Sheriff's Forum on Monday night in Greenville. The forum featured Greenville County Sheriff Hobart Lewis, Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright, Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride and Laurens County Sheriff Don Reynolds. South Carolina's Lieutenant Governor Pam Evette was in attendance for the event. 106.3 WORD's own Charlie James served as a moderator for the forum. Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright told a story that disproves false narratives about law enforcement.

Greenville County Sheriff Hobart Lewis was asked about refugees coming into Greenville County. He says the state is slated to received 174 refugees, but at this time there's been no evidence of activity from refugees in the area.


Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride has served in that role for 5 years now. He spoke Monday night on the progress that has been made in the Anderson County Sheriff's Office.

One of the issues facing law enforcement not only here but nationwide, is dealing with people who have mental health issues. Laurens County Sheriff Don Reynolds spoke on that topic.

One issue that was the consensus among the various Sheriff's, is issues with the judicial system. The Sheriff's says that repeat and serious offenders are arrested and charged, then turned back out on the street by judges. The full video of the Sheriff's Forum is below.
