In a statement released by Anderson School District One, officials said there was an incident between two female Palmetto High School students. One of the girls cut the other on the hand with a pair of rounded safety scissors. Other students intervened, until the driver stopped the bus, took the scissors and separated the students.

The injured student was treated by paramedics on the scene and the other student was taken into custody and charged with first degree assault and battery and is being detained by the Department of Juvenile Justice. The District and Williamston Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
