Get a text for "unpaid tickets?"... delete it....
Another round of text scams is making its way around the Upstate, this time pretending to be from the Dept. of Motor Vehicles.
The scam is actually part of a nationwide trend targeting numerous states.
The SCDMV is reminding everyone the agency does NOT send text messages to collect toll fees or payment for unpaid tickets (real of fake)
If you receive a text warning of severe penalties unless you pay immediately, do NOT click on any links. It's best to delete the message and contact the SCDMV directly by phone or online at SCDMVonline.com.
