A Spartanburg woman has been arrested after being accused of filing a false insurance claim. The South Carolina Department of Insurance asked the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to investigate a submission made in July.
According to a warrant, 49-year-old Trevon Rena Dawson submitted false information to ReliaStar Life Insurance Company, also known as Voya.
Investigators say, she later admitted the submission was false and that she altered supporting documents.
Dawson was charged Friday with presenting a false claim for insurance payment and forgery. She was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
