An Upstate woman pled guilty Wednesday morning on charges stemming from disposing of her mother's dead body. The U.S. Dept. of Justice says, Beth Beamer entered a guilty plea to a charge of failure to report a death. Her mother, Rena Beamer is believed to have died in August of 2017.
Court records show that Beamer admitted to taking her mother's dead body from her home in Mauldin and dumping it into a river in Polk County, North Carolina. Rena Beamer's body has never been recovered to this day, according to court documents.
Back in 2021, The Greenville County Sheriff's Office charged Beamer with neglect of a vulnerable adult, unauthorized removal of a body and desecration of human remains.
Beth Beamer also pled guilty that same year to federal charges of theft of government property after receiving over $65,000 dollars in social security payments meant for her mother.
Beamer was sentenced to 16 months in prison for that charge. She is set to be sentenced to between 8 and 19 months after the guilty plea, Wednesday.
