The murder trial of an Upstate man who admittedly killed his daughter's boyfriend has reached a verdict. Kenneth Lewis of Spartanburg County has been convicted of murder after the 2020 shooting death of Kyle Wofford.
Lewis claimed he shot Wofford for abusing his daughter. She had been hospitalized at the Augusta Burn Center recently prior to the shooting. She testified that Wofford abused her and shot her up with meth unwillingly. However, she claimed she did not recall how she was set on fire?
Court records say Wofford went to Lewis' home the day of the shooting armed with a machete. When Wofford began to leave, Lewis followed him in his truck and shot him.
Lewis was convicted Thursday and has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. The now 75 year old, plans to appeal the verdict.
