One person is dead and two others are injured following a weekend crash in the Upstate. The two vehicle collision happened just after 5 PM Saturday on Battleground Road just north of Cowpens. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the driver of a Nissan SUV tried to enter Battleground Road from Old Metal Road and hit a Chevy sedan.
Both drivers were injured and transported to the hospital. A passenger in the Chevy was injured and later died at the hospital. The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 62 year old, James Arthur Ridings of Chesnee.
