A Western North Carolina wildfire is reportedly now halfway contained. U.S. Forestry Officials say firefighters responded last Thursday to a wildfire in the area of Buck Creek in McDowell County.
The fire was caused by downed power lines and high winds. Officials say the fire had spread across more than 500 acres. On Sunday, it was reported that the fire was 50% contained.
Firefighters are still working to get the blaze fully contained. Officials are asking the public to avoid the area.
