A wild weekend scene unfolded in the Upstate as 1st responders were able to contain a wildfire and rescue a driver, almost simultaneously. The Crossroads Fire Department responded to the initial call of a fire in the woods on South Union Road in Oconee County, Sunday.
Neighboring fire crews and the South Carolina Forestry Commission responded to the scene. Firefighters were able to contain the fire and clear the scene.
As they were clearing that scene, a call came in reporting a crash just down South Union Road. The vehicle had crashed and rolled over trapping the driver inside.
Rescue crews used special tools to free the driver and extract them from the vehicle. Emergency personnel from all over Oconee County responded to help at the scene.
